Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?
Nothing during the Liverpool pilot: no card, no catch. When paid plans arrive, pilot venues keep their club, members and history, get Founding Venue pricing, and every feature suggestion we ship knocks 5% off your future subscription (up to 50%). If you work with more than one venue, you choose which venue gets the credit when you submit the idea.
Which venues can use CornerMile?
Any hospitality venue where runners can gather and stay for something afterwards. That includes cafés, bakeries, taprooms, bars and pubs. Morning coffee runs and evening socials use the same tools.
How do you decide whether our postcode is in the pilot?
It is the venue's own postcode, not your home or head office, and signup asks for it before it emails you a code. An L postcode is in the pilot: the letter L followed by a number, such as L1 0AA or L39. Leeds (LS1), Lancaster (LA1), Leicester (LE1), Lincoln (LN1) and Luton (LU1) all begin with an L as well, so the number after the letter is what decides it. Spacing and capitals make no difference, so l1 0aa and L10AA are the same postcode to us. If what you type isn't in a valid UK postcode format, we ask you to correct it rather than treating you as out of area; we check the format, not whether the address exists. We check the postcode again when the venue is created and store it with the venue, and a second venue you add later goes through the same check. If your venue is genuinely in the pilot area but its postcode says otherwise, tell us: we can record a one-off exception for that email address and postcode with the reason written down, cancel it before it is used, and it works only once.
We're outside Liverpool. When can we join?
The pilot is deliberately local to L postcodes so we can support venues hands-on. Signup checks your venue postcode before it sends a code, so a venue outside the area is taken straight to the launch list with the postcode already filled in. No account is created and no code is sent. Tick the consent box there and we'll email you when we reach your area; leave it and you hear nothing from us. Wider areas open after the pilot, and the roadmap explains the phases.
When does our club page go live?
Guided setup takes about 15 minutes, then a real person at CornerMile checks every new venue before its page goes public. We email you straight away to confirm your club is in the queue, and again when it is live, usually within a day. There is nothing you need to do while you wait, and you can keep adjusting your venue, club, terms and runs from your dashboard. Once the check is done, your club page, poster and join link all switch on.
What does the venue need to provide?
The venue is responsible for the club itself: a suitable meeting point, reviewed terms, appropriate insurance and judgement, and people to lead sessions safely. CornerMile provides the administration, attendance, reward and reporting tools.
What happens if we need help getting set up?
Ask, and we will walk you through it. When we do, we note the step you were on, the kind of help it was and how it ended, so we can fix whatever made it necessary. There is no free-text box on that record and nothing about you personally goes in it. Repeated help at the same step is how a bad step gets found and mended.
Should we start with one venue or all of them?
One. Each venue gets its own club, page, schedule, team and rewards, and they stay independent, so starting small costs you nothing later. Prove the night works at one site, then add the others from the venue picker. Each new venue goes through the same postcode check.
What does a run night cost us?
Whatever you set the reward at. You choose the offer, and you can attach it to a purchase rather than discount the whole bill, so "free filter coffee with any breakfast item" costs you something quite different from "20% off". The offer can be a member discount every member holds from the day they join, a discount for the day they ran, an active-member perk or a milestone — and for each one you choose which runs count, whether the count is a total or an unbroken streak, how long the voucher lasts, and whether it is use-once or standing. A run-day voucher can even carry a line for the friends a member brings. Rewards only trigger on verified check-ins, so the cost follows people who actually turned up. Your dashboard shows redemptions over the last four weeks, net of reversals, which is the figure to set against your own till.
How do we know it's bringing in custom rather than moving it around?
We can show you three things, and your till shows the fourth. The dashboard gives verified attendance at the last run, how many different runners came in the last four weeks, and what share of them had run with you before. After each run your team can answer a 30-second question if you want the night's result written down: roughly how many stayed, and was it worthwhile. It's optional, and skipping it changes nothing else. Those are rough numbers by design, not revenue attribution, and we don't see your sales. Comparing the run's window against the same window in earlier weeks is yours to do on your own figures. We would rather hand you the attendance evidence than quote a number we can't see.
What if only three people turn up?
Nothing breaks. There's no minimum, rewards only go to whoever attended, and next week's run is already there without you rebuilding it. If you answer the post-run question each week, those answers build up, so a slot that keeps producing three people gives you a record to move it on rather than a hunch.
Can we cap numbers?
Yes. A run can carry an optional capacity, checked at the moment a runner presses Going, and weekly runs carry the cap forward. When it's full the next runner is told so, not quietly added.
Who leads the runs, and what if the leader can't make it?
Your call: a team member, a regular who volunteers, or someone from the leader pool if you've ticked that you'd like help finding one. Clubs can also run leaderless with the venue hosting. You can assign one or more leaders to each run from Manage runs, and any leader in the club can step in on a run that needs cover or stand down again. Neither cancels the run. Leaders who've published a profile are named on the public run page, so a leader who hasn't set one up, or has unpublished it, leads the run without appearing there.
What does the night take from our staff?
A printed poster, one phone at the meeting point (or runners scanning it themselves), a redemption scan at the counter afterwards, and the 30-second post-run question. Nobody installs anything, at your end or theirs.
How do rewards avoid being gamed?
Attendance rewards only trigger on verified check-ins, and a member discount only for an active membership. Vouchers are QR codes your staff scan — use-once by default for earned rewards, or standing where you choose — every scan is recorded, and owners or managers can reverse a mistaken one. Every step is audited.
Can my staff use it without my login?
Yes. Invite managers, run leaders and venue staff from Settings. Each gets their own sign-in with only the access their role needs. Staff can redeem vouchers and record check-ins; ownership stays with the owner, and when the time comes it can be handed over: make a teammate the owner from Settings → Team, choosing in the same step whether to step down to manager, stay an owner as well, or leave the team. A venue always keeps at least one owner.
Can one account manage several venues?
Yes. Add each venue yourself from the venue picker or Settings. It follows the same quick-start and gets its own club, members and team. Each venue is checked against the same pilot postcode rule when you add it. If your email has access to more than one venue, the management header shows the venue you are acting for and a switch link. Dashboards, runs, settings, rewards, teams and exports then stay scoped to that selected venue; single-venue accounts keep the same experience without an extra picker.
Can we get help finding someone to lead our club?
Yes. Clubs can start without a leader, with the venue hosting and CornerMile handling the admin. Plenty do. When you're ready for someone to front the club, tick 'We'd like help finding a run leader or influencer' in Settings or during setup. Your club then appears on the lead-a-club page, where profiled leaders can apply without seeing your contact details. Owners and managers review the profile and note in Settings, then accept the right person into the Run leader role. Leaders can unpublish their public profile at any time, and the venue can hide it from its club page.
Can we give our run leader a standing perk?
Yes. Owners and managers can give each Run leader a venue-funded offer for each run they lead, any visit or a set number of times each month. The leader shows it at the bar and your signed-in staff record the use. Owners and managers can reverse a mistake. You choose whether to advertise the offer while looking for a leader; CornerMile does not fund or guarantee it.
Can runners follow our venue or run leaders on Instagram?
Yes. Add the venue's @username in Settings, and leaders or influencers add theirs to their own public profiles. The club page shows separate follow links for the venue and each visible leader; clearing an account or unpublishing a leader removes its link.
What counts as attendance?
A verified, timestamped QR scan at the run. You can choose one scan at the start or scan out and back in. With the second option, scanning back in is what earns the reward.
Can we print one check-in QR that never changes?
Yes. Settings offers a fresh code per run (the default) or one standing code that always points at the run happening when it's scanned. The standing code is easier to run but easier to abuse — a member who saves it can check in without attending — so it's your call, and you can replace the code at any time, which retires every old print.
What if a runner's phone dies at check-in?
Any venue team member can record the check-in manually from the attendance page. Corrections are marked, audited, and earn rewards exactly like a scan.
Can runners see where the run goes?
Yes. Build a route library with descriptions, distances and public links to Strava, Komoot or anywhere else. Attach one route or several to a run. When there's a choice, runners pick theirs when they RSVP, and public routes appear on your club page.
Can we add extra sessions alongside the regular run?
Yes. The regular run repeats weekly or monthly, and Manage runs adds one-off sessions alongside it — a special, a race-day social, a one-off morning. One-offs are edited and cancelled on their own, and everyone who RSVP'd is emailed when a run changes.
Can we email our members?
Members choose between two separate opt-ins when they join or at any time afterwards: run updates and venue news beyond running. Both are off by default. Opted-in members receive a reminder roughly a day before each run and can stop those reminders in one tap. CornerMile retries temporary delivery failures automatically. We also notify runners if a run they RSVP'd to is cancelled or materially changed. That's a service notice tied to their RSVP, not marketing, so it doesn't need the opt-in.
Do runners need to install an app?
No. Everything is in the browser. Runners join with an email address and one tap on the sign-in button we email them; a six-digit code is there too for anyone reading the email on a different device. Nobody needs a password, and once you've signed in once you can add a passkey — fingerprint, face or device PIN — to skip the code on that device. A passkey is never required; the email code always works.
What happens if I join from a run?
We keep that run for 30 minutes while you fetch the six-digit code, then bring you back to its signed-in page. Nothing is booked until you press Going. The run and its capacity are checked again then. If the club changed its terms during the email round trip, you see and accept the new wording before membership starts. A check-in QR also brings you back to the right page, but you still press Check in yourself.
Who can join a club?
Adults. Clubs are 18+ during the pilot. Each club page states its distance, pace and whether beginners are welcome up front, so check the club's guidance before you go and nobody's surprised.
Do you track people around the internet?
No. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels in our emails and no profiles about individual people. We do measure where people get stuck signing up, joining or checking in, because that is how the pilot gets less annoying. When you start one of those, we set a first-party cookie holding a random 30-minute reference your browser cannot read, and record step names against it, such as 'asked for a code' and 'came back with the code'. We never store your name, email, postcode, IP address, browser or anything you typed alongside it, and those step records — along with any record of help we gave you by hand — are deleted after 90 days, leaving only counts that identify nobody. We have also built in support for Cloudflare Web Analytics, which would report page views and page speed on the live site only, sets no cookie and identifies nobody: it is not switched on, and stays inactive until we set up a Cloudflare site and token. None of it is used to decide what to email you, and it is completely separate from your run-updates and venue-news choices. The privacy notice spells it all out.
Can we export our data?
Yes. Owners and managers can download members with terms evidence, attendance history and the current consent-based contact list as CSV at any time.
What happens to our data if we leave?
Deleting your venue removes it from public and management use immediately. We keep a recovery snapshot for 30 days in case you change your mind, then permanently purge everything, including member personal data.
Is this a safety or coaching service?
No. CornerMile verifies attendance and runs rewards; venues run their clubs. We provide a report-a-concern link on every club page, optional member emergency contacts that run leaders can see only around the run, and guidance for run leaders. Concern reports reach both the venue and CornerMile. The run itself remains the venue's responsibility, with its own insurance and judgement.

Something we haven't answered? The help page has the fixes for sign-in, postcode and review problems and the address to write to — no club or account needed. During the pilot, you're talking directly to the people building it.
